Bilqis Benu has dedicated herself to community wellness for over 20 years.  Her career began with teaching healthy eating habits, classical music, and modern dance to children in Public Beacon Programs and Private schools throughout NYC via the Education in Dance Company in 2001.  Bilqis continued to teach children and the community as an entrepreneur focused on underprivileged schools in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, and Sunny Side, Queens. 

 

She is versed in Personal Fitness Training, Yoga Body Work, Cardio Kickboxing, Health Seminars, Wellness Fairs, and Fitness events.  Bilqis instructed at Brooklyn College, YWCA Gyms, Harlem Directors Group Wellness Fairs, and Bally's Sports Club for over 6 years.  She has over 12 years of implementing fitness, recreation, event management, leisure travel tours, and wellness programs for the U.S. Military. 


Her education consists of a Bachelor's in Exercise Science, Adaptive Physical Education, and a Masters in Sports Management.  Bilqis has certifications in Hatha Yoga Asanas and Pranayama breathing techniques via Integral Yoga Institute NYC and from Shantarasa Yoga Darshana.  She continues to study Yogic Chanting and Vedic Philosophy at Shanti Mandir Walden, N.Y. following the guidance of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Nityananda (Guru Dev). 

Bilqis received mind-body attunements initially in nature from Mother Ayahuasca.  And, has furthered her spiritual understanding and facilitation through  'Taino Reiki'.  She obtained certification in Taino Reiki in November 2019.  This wonderful energy healing technique is infused into all her wellness modalities.

 

Her ongoing passions are in Modern Dance, Wushu Martial Arts, Hatha Yoga, and Indigenous Traditional Healing Practices.

 

Bilqis is currently in a Massage Therapy Program and facilitates educational and wellness programs as a Children's Services Supervisor for the Department of Homeless Services.
